Folic acid supplements and others used to combat the risk of heart disease increased the chances of colon cancer as well. In another study of a National Health and Nutrition study of 12,000 adults, 45% said they believed multivitamins improved their health. 33% thought they would maintain their health by consuming them. 23% received recommendations from their doctors to take multivitamins.
