The Human Papilloma Virus, or the HPV, is one of the most common, most transmittable and the most perilous diseases people have come across. You must have heard about it. It is a condition caused by a group of viruses.
These viruses assault your skin and the membranous areas like the cervix, the throat, the mouth and so forth. It is thought to be one of the most commonly sexually transmitted diseases in the whole world, however, you should take in consideration that this disease is not being transmitted only by sexual intercourse, but it is also being spread by genital skin to skin contact to new people. This is something people should always bear in mind because one might think that condoms are a sufficient protection and prevention when it comes to HPV. Why is the HPV so terrible? It is scary and horrible not only because is highly infectious, but also because of the way it manifests itself. One can often recognize the HPV by horrible warts. However, do not think that the HPV is always manifested by these warts, since these symptoms are not always immediately visible. This virus is known for hiding itself and keeping its head down for some time, which could be even up to a few years. Some symptoms can be shown even much later and the person that carries this virus in their body might not be aware of that. This is what makes the HPV even more alarming and dangerous.
It is a fact that women contract the HPV more frequently than man. As we already mentioned, the virus, among other mucous parts of the body, most frequently attacks the cervix. This means that the virus can lead to cervical cancer, which is one more thing that makes it even more dangerous. Almost all cases of cervical cancer have been connected to the HPV infections, and it is a fact that cervical cancer is one of the deadliest types of cancer and one of the main causes of death in women.
