We offer you a recipe for an extremely powerful remedy for cough. It is very easy to prepare and it works instantly. Usually, the natural remedies for this purpose are not tasty at all, but surprisingly this one has pleasant and mild taste. Its main components are the lemon, the laurel and the sugar. The lemon adds acidity while the laurel gives a bitter flavor. The main components together with water drive the ingredients in the circulation and thus spread throughout the whole body.
Few facts about the laurel:
Laurel leaves contain B vitamins including pantothenic acid, riboflavin, niacin and pyridoxine. These organic compounds improve the function of the muscular and the nervous system and positively affect the hormonal status and the metabolism as well. Laurel is also rich in minerals such as: zinc, iron, copper, potassium, selenium, magnesium, calcium and manganese.
Needed ingredients:
- 1 medium sized lemon
- 6 tablespoons sugar ( brown sugar, if possible)
- 4 leaves of laurel
- 5 oz of water
Instructions for preparation:
Take a pot and boil the water in it. Add the laurel leaves, cover the pot and cook for 6-10 minutes. Take the leaves separately (one by one) and put them in a container along with the liquid. Add the sugar and the squeezed lemon in the container. Mix the ingredients well and let the sugar melt. You can use honey if you don’t like sugar.
Dosage:
It is recommended to take 2-3 teaspoons on daily basis. This dosage will be enough for diminishing the cough.
The laurel syrup should be kept in a refrigerator but it is not recommended to use it after three days. If the symptoms of a cold don’t disappear after you are done with the syrup you can take a peeled slice of lemon and chew it. This additional “remedy” is also quite effective for dry cough.
