If you want to make a quick review of your health, it is sufficient to look at the nails on the hands and feet. Their appearance reveals more than you think.
BRITTLE NAILS
If your nails are brittle and often break, perhaps you lack iron or vitamin B. Do a blood test and consult your doctor for further advice.
DRY NAILS
They can point to problems with the thyroid gland, especially if your skin is dry or you suddenly began to gain weight.
YELLOW SPOTS
They may be a sign of fungal infection, especially if they appear on your toes. Also, they can point to psoriasis.
BROWN OR BLACK STRIPES
They can be caused by an injury of the nail, and may indicate melanoma in rare cases.
YELLOW NAILS
Yellow color on the nails may be a sign of diabetes or lung disease.
WHITE SPOTS
White spots are caused by zinc deficiency. If they remain after one month of taking zinc supplements, then its occurrence is associated with an older injury of the nails.
