Researchers from the Republic of Korea’s Pusan National University made tests on men who have a hairloss problem. The research was conducted on 76 male patients with moderate androgenic alopecia – male pattern hair loss. Androgenic alopecia is the most common kind of alopecia – it represents 95% of all types of hair loss in men and women.
None of the patients had tried any previous medication for at least three months prior to the beginning of the study.
The treatment consisted of giving the patients 400 milligrams of pumpkin seed oil per day in capsules. They were given two capsules before breakfast and two capsules before dinner.
After three and six months, the patients were tested through a number of methods including analysis of the scalp by experts and photographing the scalp using phototrichography – which is a polarizing technology, allowing the hair loss region to be targeted and measured from the center.
The men were divided in two groups: one received pumpkin seed oil and the other received placebo.
The results for the patients who took pumpkin seed oil are the following: 44% of the group experienced improved hair growth, 51% were unchanged and 2.7% had slightly more baldness at the end.
In comparison, among the placebo group, 28% had increased baldness, 64% were unchanged, and only 7.7% had slightly or moderately improved hair growth.
In the phototrichographic analysis, the pumpkin seed oil group had significantly higher hair counts – over three times more. This group saw 30-40% increased hair counts. The research found this therapy to be completely safe and without any side effects, since they were working with a natural product.
This method, although not totally revolutionary, showed significant improvement in most of the patients in a totally natural way, unlike the drugs used in this area – primarily minoxidil and finasteride, which often have negative consequences. The negative effects of these medicines are sometimes reflected in erectile dysfunction, severe itching of the scalp, or growth of breasts in men. Unlike the new costly and complicated chemical substances that promise miraculous results, the all-natural pumpkin seed oil is something different. Taking this oil is also useful for other medical conditions of the organism.
We recommend that you try this simple method for yourself. It would be best to use one full tablespoon of virgin pumpkin seed oil in the morning before breakfast and at night before going to bed. The treatment, according to the study, should be carried out continuously for at least six months and preferably longer. Using pumpkin seed oil can not go wrong because its beneficial medicinal properties have long been known. Pumpkin seeds are filled with a multitude of essential fats, minerals and vitamins. You will easily see whether this method works for you based on what happens to your scalp and how it affects your hairloss. The method is equally applicable to men and women.
Pumpkin seed oil, as well as the seeds themselves, has long been used in folk medicine for treating a range of conditions, such as prostate problems, elevated blood fat levels, arthritis, menstrual cramps, prevention of diabetes, osteoporosis, depression…
