After my graduation in 1990 I moved to New York to work as a financial analyst. I was then in decent shape, but soon started gaining weight because I stopped exercising. I gained 40 pounds because of the late night pizza runs, the company cafeteria, the baked goods eating in the office and the midnight trips to the market. I became overweight, and moody and tired.
During the next few years I tried every diet: juice fasting, no carb, no fat, Jenny Craig’s diet and more, and I often ended even heavier than before.
Then I realized that I could not lose any weight or keep the weight I have lost because those programs were not suitable for me. The program I needed was supposed to be simple and practical and consist of the foods I ate. I realized that I need to develop my own regime.
I began by getting rid of the sugar from my diet
I have previously started consuming much sugar since I always felt tired. I craved more and more sugar as I ate it more. That is why I knew that I need to get rid of sugar in my diet, as well as of the drinks I used to drink.
At first, I felt terrible, but then, after a while, I started feeling better without sugar, so I decided I will eliminate other foods as well, that I thought were stopping from achieving my goal.
Next, I got rid of wheat.
It is not that the wheat is bad, but the one that I consumed was highly processed and without nutrients.
Next, I eliminated dairy.
Even thought dairy products are healthy, some of them, the ones I consumed, were obstructing my goal. Those were frozen yogurt, ice cream, cookies, chocolate, pies, cakes, and so on. I even found out another benefit. Namely, when I replaced the cow’s milk with almond, rice or soy milk, my stomach problems disappeared.
After sugar, wheat and dairy, I gave up all highly processed foods.
All foods that came in a bag or a box were not for me.
Next, I stopped consuming artificial sweeteners, alcohol and red meat.
I eliminated one of these foods every day for seven days, and but the end of the week, my diet was completely clean.
The first week I quit sugar, dairy, wheat, processed foods, meat, alcohol and artificial sweeteners I started feeling great and realized the thing I never thought it was the solution, but it was!
I started losing weight very fast, and not only that, my sense of taste reappeared. It started noticing the great taste of food and the beauty of the eating process.
I stopped mindlessly gulping my food and started noticing subtle flavors and aromas.
I started allowing indulgences.
I soon became conscious that if I wanted to go on losing weight and go on with my regime I would need to allow myself to sometimes eat my favorite not so healthy meals, but in moderation. That is why I started including weekly indulgencies. I could sometimes eat cheese, pizza, cookies and ice cream in moderation and go on losing weight because I consumed clean food most of the time.
I finally found out a formula that worked.
My weight was reduced and it did not come back. Everybody around me noticed that.
I shared my program with everyone I knew, since I wanted to help everyone. The circle of people who wanted to know my secret kept expanding, so that made me put my 14-day regime on paper so it could become available to everyone. That is how my book appeared, titled Healthy You!: 14 Days to Quick and Permanent Weight Loss and a Healthier, Happier You.
Those 14 days helped me reduce my weight, but they also helped me become more aware of what I was eating and how that food made me feel. I lost 40 pounds and maintained my normal weight for 20 years.
Fourteen days can help you change your life.
