1. Carrots – Eyes
Consuming carrots regularly is good for your eyes because it improves vision. Sasson Moulavi, MD, medical director of Smart for Life Weight Management Centers claims “Carrots are filled with vitamins and antioxidants, like beta-carotene, that decrease the chance of macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision loss in older people”.
2. Walnuts – Brain
The other name for walnuts popular among people is “brain food” and this is not strange since they have very high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which help support brain function.
3. Celery – Bones
If you ask me what is my favorite vegetable than it is definitely celery. Luckily it is great that I consume it regularly because as Dr. Moulavi said it is really good for our bones. According to him celery is a great source of silicon that is part of the molecular structure that gives bones strength.
4. Avocados – Uterus
Having a healthy uterus is a priority for many women and they are trying to keep its health in every possible way. If you are facing this problem then you should start consuming avocado. . “Avocados are a good source of folic acid,” says Elizabeth Somer, a registered dietitian. “Folate has been found to reduce the risk for cervical dysplasia, which is a precancerous condition.”
5. Grapefruit – Breasts
Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases among women. Being diagnosed with breast cancer is terrifying nightmare for women. Grapefruits are excellent way for prevention of this and many other diseases related to breasts. “Grapefruit contains substances called limonoids, which have been shown to inhibit the development of cancer in lab animals and in human breast cells,” says Dr. Moulavi.
6. Tomatoes – Heart
According to the statistics heart diseases are number one killers in America. But there is a red heart shaped vegetable that might decrease the number of heart diseases. Tomatoes contain lycopene which reduces heart diseases both in man and women. Preparing a salad with tomatoes, olive oil and avocado is the best thing that you can do for your heart.
7. Sweet Potatoes – Pancreas
These vegetables look exactly like pancreas and are essential for keeping this organ healthy. Somer says “Sweet potatoes are high in beta-carotene, which is a potent antioxidant that protects all tissues of the body, including the pancreas, from damage associated with cancer or aging”.
8. Ginger – Stomach
Ginger is tasty and helps in settling the stomach. According to Dr. Moulavi “Gingerol, which is the ingredient responsible for ginger’s pungent scent and taste, is listed in the USDA database of phytochemicals as having the ability to prevent nausea and vomiting”.
